Blog - Technical data Conical springs

Conical Compression springs are used if space in axial direction is limited. In conical a compression spring, coils coincide in such a way, that its height at compression is about twice the thickness of the wire. The spring coefficient behaves approximately linear and the length at compression is less than that of normal compression springs. For the calcution of conical compression springs we refer to DIN 2089-1 (NEN 13906-1) and DIN 2095-2. Our engineering department can calculate the right spring for your and give you technical advices.

Concial Standard springs:

Material:

Musicwire:

DIN 17223 C / No. 1.1200

t/m wire 2 mm: EN10270-1:01 DH (bonded)

> wire 2 mm : EN10270-1:01 SH

Stainless steel:

DIN 17224 / X10CrNi 18-8 / AISI 302 / No. 1.4310 / EN 10270-3:01

Tolerances:

DIN 2095-2 / DIN 2098-2

Working temperature:

music wire:  max. +80 degrees Celsius

stainless steel: max. +250 degrees Celsius

For higher temperatures, please take contact with our engineering department

Production:

coiled: right hand

ends: squared and ungrounded

Surface treatment:

The springs are oiled. If different surface treatment is requested, a surcharge will be levied.

Moreover, this will result in a prolonged delivery time.

Properties conical springs

Due to the conical shape, the wire is pressed inside the other winding instead of on top of it. This creates a telescopic effect when warping occurs. This has another advantage. In contrast to the standard compression spring, the collapse of the windings reduces the entire height. At full compression, a conical compression spring is as high as the width of the last winding. This does not always have to be the case; in order to ensure stability, it is also possible to allow the windings fall on top of one another on the inside. Read more about cConical springs.

Special Conical Springs:

Our production can almost make every conical spring on measure as well in small quantities as large quantities. We use several kinds of material, such as music wire, stainless steel 302 and 3.16, inconel and titanium. Aftertreatments include: chromium plating, nickel-plating, epoxy coating, passivating, electrolitical polishing, sinking, cleanroom packiging, etc.
